2017

AMRA

The Australian Medical Robotics Academy (AMRA) was established in Melbourne in 2017 with funding from the Victorian Government. The academy provided specialist training in minimally invasive robotic surgery, using advanced educational technologies including virtual reality surgical simulation.

2021

In November 2021, Robotic Surgery Evolution Ltd was incorporated and acquired the assets of AMRA, establishing the International Medical Robotics Academy (IMRA). Building on AMRA's legacy, IMRA delivers comprehensive surgical training and education to specialists from Australia and around the world in the use of robotic systems for minimally invasive surgery.

2022

In 2022, IMRA Surgical marked another major milestone with the introduction of its proprietary hydrogel models and integrated torso simulation systems. This comprehensive training platform provides surgeons with a scalable, high-fidelity solution for procedural training, combining lifelike synthetic tissue with anatomically accurate simulation environments, without the need for cadavers or animal tissue.

2026

In 2026, IMRA Surgical expanded into a significantly larger, purpose-built manufacturing facility to support the company's rapid growth and increasing global demand. The new facility enhances production capacity, streamlines research and development, and provides dedicated spaces for advanced manufacturing, product testing, and surgical education—positioning IMRA Surgical for the next phase of innovation and international expansion.
